Services of Campbell Lodge Boys Home

Campbell Lodge Boys’ Home Crisis Stabilization Services allows for placement for up to 10 consecutive days for males between the ages of 9 and 17 who are currently receiving IMPACT Plus Services

Children considered for placement should be working with an approved IMPACT Plus service provider and have been diagnosed with a severe, emotional disorder and would benefit from a time-limited, structured, and safe environment.  The child must be in crisis as determined by the child’s clinical team and at risk of hospitalization and would benefit from an intense therapeutic stay in a residential setting.  Further, both Campbell Lodge and the child’s outpatient clinical team must agree that a coordinated and intensive plan of behavioral health services will improve or prevent further regression.

Crisis Stabilization Services is geared towards the child who has severe mental health issues that can be managed without psychiatric hospitalization.  Campbell Lodge Boys’ Home’s Crisis Stabilization is for a child who is…

  • feeling and acting out of control
  • not following rules
  • not keeping himself safe
  • physically aggressive
  • sexually acting out
  • threatening to hurt himself or others
  • at risk of running away

Admission begins with a phone call to 859.781.1214 ext. 112/114 during business hours, where you will speak with the Director of Clinical Services and Equine Assisted Therapy or the Residential Supervisor.  After 5:00 p.m.  and before 9:00 a.m., you are asked to call 859.743.3703.

A screening assessment is conducted over the phone to determine if Campbell Lodge Boys’ Home Crisis Stabilization Program is appropriate or if a higher level of care is needed.  If it is decided that your child would benefit from short-term placement, a crisis clinician is contacted.  Our crisis clinician will contact you to complete an assessment within 3 hours of the initial call for an urgent crisis situation and within 24 hours for a non-urgent crisis.  You will also be asked to complete paperwork to facilitate placement and ensure that your child is able to remain in the program by providing a birth certificate, social security card, proof of custody, etc.  A complete list of what is required and what needs to be completed prior to admission follows this section.

While at Campbell Lodge Boys' Home, our crisis clinician will see the child daily and have on-going consultation with community supports such as: his teachers, coaches, etc.  A treatment care plan will be developed with the parent, child, and community support representatives that will identify short-term goals to help keep the child safe and ready to return to the community.  Your child will participate in social skill development to deal with such things as: anger management, communication issues, utilizing healthy coping skills, and parent-child relationship skills.  Parents will also be invited to participate in our Strengthening Families Program where they will learn skills to help them in their parenting role.

Discharge Planning begins at admission and discharge is expected to occur within 10 days.  If it is determined that the child is still unable to manage himself safely in the home or the community after the 10 day crisis stay, the crisis clinician along the other community team members may explore longer-term placement in the Campbell Lodge Boys’ Home residential program.
